After taking office, the Trump Administration redirected the official U.S. Government domain covidtests.gov to a page on the White House web page with unsupported claims about the origin of COVID-19.

The page claims a unique "not found in nature" feature, a single jump into humans, and that a lab accident is "most likely." Evidence does not support those claims. Similar features exist in other coronaviruses, several studies indicate at least two early lineages, and U.S. intelligence and scientists have no consensus on lab vs. natural spillover. Reports of sick WIV staff, "no evidence" for natural origin, and allegations about steering the Proximal Origin paper are suggestive at best.

The page also treats accusations as facts. Committee claims about NIH wrongdoing, officials "lying," HHS "obstructing," and a DOJ probe are not independently established. Policy judgments are presented as conclusions: six-foot distancing as "arbitrary," masks having "no conclusive evidence," lockdowns causing "immeasurable harm," and the WHO agreement harming the U.S.
